The Meadowlands Man (WIP)

“Assumable” sculpture is a new concept I’m exploring. I would like to go further and more deeply than a costume can. Costumes imply playing a role in a an theatrical set or special event whereas I would like to assume a character in a real space in order to explore that space both physically and socially. Above are work in progress documentation images for an assumable sculpture and folk character I’m creating, called the Meadowlands Man. It is meant to be a modern counterpart of the Jersey Devil, a folk creature from the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey.
